πŸ₯€ This cake is made with SODA POP (and it's amazing)

Hi friends!

I hope you're having a great week! We spent Monday and Tuesday at an amusement and water park with some family friends, and it was such a fun (and exhausting!) way to kick off the week. Between the roller coasters and the water slides, I think we covered every possible way to get soaked and dizzy at the same time. In between all the splashing and screaming (the good kind), I managed to sneak in some time in the kitchen too.

Here's what's new this week:

πŸ₯€ 7UP Cake (New)
This old-fashioned pound cake gets its light, tender crumb and subtle citrus flavor from a can of 7UP. It's simple, it's sweet, and it's the kind of cake your grandma probably made without even glancing at a recipe card. 1950s Recipe

πŸͺ Hermit Cookies (New)
These spiced, chewy cookies are packed with warm spices, raisins, and nuts, and they only get better the longer they sit. If you've never had a hermit cookie before, you're in for a real treat. 1940s Recipe

🍯 Homemade Sweet and Sour Sauce (Updated)
I gave this one some fresh love with clearer instructions and helpful tips to make it foolproof. It's one of those sauces that makes everything from egg rolls to chicken taste like takeout, right from your own kitchen. My grandpa's Recipe

Thanks so much for being here and for following along each week. I truly appreciate your support, and I hope you find a recipe (or two!) to add to your menu this week.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Warmly,
Heidi (aka Lulu)

Apple Pan Dowdy

Hi friends! Quick update from my week: I dragged all three kids to the dentist, and somehow we walked out with zero cavities. I'm calling that a win and treating myself accordingly (with pie, obviously). Here's what's new and updated this week: 🍎 Apple Pan Dowdy (New) β€” an old-school apple dessert that's somewhere between a pie and a cobbler, with a "dowdy" crust you break up and press back into the filling. If you've never made one, this is your sign. Apple Pan Dowdy πŸ— Chicken Stir Fry β€”...

Sloppy joe.

Hi friends! I hope your week is off to a great start! Ours has been a little chaotic in the best way. Our son just got home from a mission trip to Panama, so we spent the weekend celebrating and soaking up all his stories. It's the kind of tired-but-full feeling that makes you grateful for a slow cooker doing the work while life happens around it. Speaking of which... It's that time of year again. Backpacks are packed, alarms are set, and dinner somehow still needs to happen every single...

Watergate Salad.

Hi friends, I hope you're having a good weekend! We've been thinking a lot about our community today. We're several miles from a very large fire here in our county, and while we're safe, our hearts are with everyone who has been affected. We've been keeping all of the families, firefighters, and first responders in our prayers. On a happier note, I'm sharing some of my favorite potluck recipes this week. These are the kinds of dishes that always seem to disappear first, whether you're headed...
